FJD NEV 20. Texas Springs; Rhyolite Flows: Miocene. Texas Springs, also sometimes called Jackpot, Nevada, is a famous site for pink limb casts. Full round limb section with a gorgeous glassy pink and a deeply translucent face. One end is natural, and the other is polished. No glue or filler. This perfect specimen appears in Ancient Forests on page 244. 35 by 44 mm polished face; 5 cm long; five ounces. SOLD

FJD NEV 21. Stonewall Pass near Goldfield, Nevada. Tertiary. This is a little known location which was an amazing find to some Southern California rockhounds back in the forties and fifties. They cleaned it out of numerous beautiful limbs of some of the prettiest fossil wood this planet has ever disgorged. I have only come across a very few specimens in all of my years of seeking. Full round that is cut on both ends and polished on the top. Solid with no glue or filler. This beauty appears in Ancient Forests on page 245. 5 by 4.5 cm polished face; 3 cm thick; four ounces. NEV 176. Museum quality. Little Humboldt River, Nevada. This is the source of classic limbs that appear to be casts but are actually wood shifted to translucent silica. It was thought for years that they were casts, but as I discovered by cutting dozens of limbs, some exhibit areas of distinct yet ghostly wood structure. This is a smaller branch or root section cut and polished on both ends. Translucent gray with red and an alarmingly striking design that celestial. The skin is off-white. 56 by 26 and 60 by 32 mm mirror-polished faces; 4.5 cm long; five ounces. $65

Nevada 175. Hubbard Basin. Tertiary; Elko County, Nevada. Especially attractive specimen round conifer slice from Hubbard Basin. Millenia of erosion reduced this fossil to about a quarter of the full log it once was. Unusual colors and pattern. Nice eye appeal. The polished face measures 15 by 17 cm; 10 mm thick; one pound and two ounces.  $85

This is a super solid and glassy full round limb section with a deeply translucent pink interior. One end is natural and the other polished with a slight dome. 6 by 5 cm mirror-polished face; 6 cm long; twelve ounces.  $100

Nevada 174. Nevada opalized wood. The label said “Opal wood Nev”. Interesting piece with an attractive exterior that unquestionably says Wood! Under magnification the coniferous cellular ladders show quite well. Full round conifer.  The polished face measures 12 by 9 cm; 10 cm long; two pounds and fourteen ounces.  $40

NEV 10. Northwest Nevada; Tertiary. Opalized specimen round, well tumbled and waterworn. Cut and polished on one end and otherwise as Nature left it. Unusually perfect polished face for an opalized specimen. Its opal nature is apparent on the uncut end. Nice colors.
