Harris Wash, Utah 2010 It was just me and my awesome daughter, Prudence. Look at her pack. By the time we got to the camp site, she was carrying half the stuff I started out with in addition to her own. We found a terrific camp site. Day 2. Prue at The Gateway. We hiked from our camp to the Escalante River, 16 miles round trip. The Escalante River. All magic. Back through The Gateway. We camped in the same spot both nights. Prue’s old 4Runner. That was a good car. The best thing about camping in that area – amazing food on the way home in the middle of nowhere. This is The Kiva, near Boulder, Utah. Our other favorite is The Burr Trail Grill in Boulder. Ethereal drive home – about four hours. I still have that shirt.
