PW879. Baccarat Concentric 8-Ring Closepack 1970 Museum Piece. Baccarat made an extremely nice variety of concentric closepacks over the years –those from the 1960s and 1970s are some of the finest millefiori paperweights ever made – a fusion of craftsmanship and artistic expression. This one comprises colorful complex canes in bright colors and a mandala effect. The drawn-in stave base is simply beautiful, an important aspect of these weights. Superb craftsmanship and remarkable condition – perfect like new.. The bottom is marked with the Baccarat logo, 1970, and 61. 3 1/16 inch diameter; 1 7/8 inches tall; one pound and three ounces.  $675

PW1230. Baccarat Concentric 9-Ring Closepack 1972 Museum Piece. I love these. They have an almost organic texture. Baccarat made an extremely nice variety of concentric closepacks over the years – I think those from the 1960s and 1970s are some of the finest millefiori paperweights ever made – a fusion of craftsmanship and artistic expression. This one in particular is a great example with a pleasing blend of colors in a mandala-like expression. Almost every element is a star – a great many stars. The stars toward the center were encased in clear glass which gives the piece depth and allows a play of light as it is turned in your hand. The base is simply beautiful, an important aspect of these weights. Superb craftsmanship and remarkable condition – perfect like new.. The bottom is marked with the Baccarat logo, 1972, and #227. 3 3/16 inch diameter; 2 1/4 inches tall; one pound and eight ounces.  $750

PW2744. Baccarat Modern Museum Piece 1990 Limited Edition of 200. Croix de Malta sur fond noir. Maltese cross on black ground. The canes are numerous and tiny yet many are deceptively complex. The canes were encased in clear crystal before the black base and crystal dome were added. The outer row alone comprises 58 canes, including a date cane B1990. This exact same paperweight is pictured in Baccarat Paperweights: Two Centuries of Beauty by Paul Dunlop on page 212. Condition is perfect. New. Original box and certificate. Engraved 77/200 along with 1990, etched with the Baccarat logo. 3 3/16 inch diameter; 2 5/16 inches tall; one pound and seven ounces. $525

PW3014. Baccarat Modern Museum Piece 1970 famous church weight. Excellent example in about a nice condition as is possible for a piece of glass art made when I was in college. Condition is perfect but you might see nearly invisible shelfwear if you look hard and have better vision than I do. Engraved 299 and 1970, etched with the Baccarat logo. 3 1/8 inch diameter; 1 3/4 inches tall; one pound and two ounces. $700

PW3128. Baccarat 1970 Zodiac Church Weight Museum Piece. Fabulous, classic, colorful, intricate closepack. This is an amazingly intricate piece of glass art. The Baccarat logo is etched into the base along with the number 9 and 1970. The canes include all the signs of the zodiac. Date cane “B1970” is embedded within the closepack. It took Baccarat three to four months to make enough canes to produce 150 church weights. They began making them in the modern era in 1957, so by 1970 they had them perfected, as this beautiful weight testifies. 3 1/8 inch diameter; 2 inches tall; one pound and three ounces. Condition is excellent with slight shelf wear. $700

PW3160. Rare Baccarat 1981 zodiac red and white carpetground. Unusual, rare, and gorgeous – translucent red centers in 8-lobed white canes. This one is perfect in all ways and has an especially organic presence due to the assorted cane sizes, the largest of which blossom into eight-pointed stars while the tiniest appear as red dots with thin rays. I have seen only two of these – one from 1973 and this one. Drawn in staves. Cane “B1981” in the closepack. Etched with the Baccarat logo on the base and 23. 3 1/16 inch diameter; 2 3/16 inches tall; one pound and five ounces. Condition is excellent, more like amazing. SOLD
