PW2240. Baccarat Magnum Museum Piece Limited Edition 1988 71/200. By the time 1988 rolled around, the French glass artisans at Saint Louis and Baccarat had been making fine paperweights for more than forty years and were running out of subjects. I can imagine the discussion at a board meeting, “What did you have for breakfast?” at first met with laughter. But the breakfast fruit made beautiful weights. This pineapple plant with maturing pineapple is skillfully made by an experienced artisan, some of the finest lampwork of all time —it speaks to the essence of life —, and the medium blue crystal dome is gem quality beautiful. Perfect condition with worn box and crisp certificate. Signature cane in the ground “B1988”. Base etched with Baccarat logo and engraved “1988 27/200. That is a fairly low edition number for Baccarat. 3 1/4 inch diameter; 2 3/8 inches tall (high dome); one pound and ten ounces. $700

PW2635. Rare Baccarat 1972 SALAMANDER. Very nice salamander. This one may well be one-of-a-kind. Signature cane “B1972” in the attractive yellow and aqua ground. Nicely made amphibian. This paperweight is pictured in the most complete Baccarat book ever published, Baccarat Paperweights: Two Centuries of Beauty by Paul Dunlop on page 181. Etched with the Baccarat logo on the base and engraved “20” and “1972”. 2 7/8 inch diameter; 2 1/16 inches tall; one pound and two ounces. Condition is excellent – perfect dome with slight wear to base only. $600

PW2633. Rare Baccarat 1972 numbered edition (#76) pink flower over pale violet ground. This is probably one-of-a-kind, or they may have made a few—it’s not one of the six limited editions for that year. It’s from the same collection as those in the Baccarat book. Signature cane in base B1972. Etched with the Baccarat logo on the base and engraved “76” “1972”. 3 3/16 inch diameter; 2 1/8 inches tall; one pound and eight ounces. Condition is excellent/perfect. $500

PW1606. Baccarat Museum Piece Numbered Edition from 1971. It is likely this is a one-of-a-kind or perhaps they made a few of these. At any rate it is very rare. Note the exquisite petals. Beautiful millefiori flower on translucent blue ground. Signature/date cane “B1971”. Base has two etched Baccarat emblems and is engraved “1971” and “100”, meaning this was the 100th collector paperweight they made in 1971. I graduated from college that year so I know it is very old. Condition is excellent with minute shelfwear. 3 inch diameter; 2 1/8 inches tall; one pound and four ounces. $500

PW2801. Baccarat Modern Magnum Museum Piece 1995* Limited Edition of 100 – NUMBER 64. Perles sur fond bleu. In 1995 Baccarat made seven limited edition weights – all of them rose themed (Coeur de rose) and four of the seven set within three rings of millefiori. The rose appears to float over the soft blue ground, held aloft by the centrifugal force of the crisp millefiori rings all around. This paperweight is pictured Dunlop’s book on page 225. My opinion: it is astounding – ages of skills artisans practiced tens of thousands of hours culminating in this extraordinary work, preserved forever, so please enjoy. Condition is excellent/perfect. It is one of the greatest French paperweights from all eternity. Limited edition of 100 and numbered 64/100 along with 1995 for the year and etched with the Baccarat logo. Comes with box and original certificate of authenticity. 3 9/16 (very large) inch diameter; 2 3/16 inches tall; this extraordinary glass paperweight weighs one pound and thirteen ounces. $1600 SOLD
