PW3237. Adelmo (Delmo) Tarsitano (1921-1990) Magnum Museum Piece. From his “Earth Life” series. Two plump strawberries and four blossoms are home to a handsome spider whose web glows red from below. Delmo employed his unique red-glowing spider web technique for the ground beneath this amazingly realistic spider – the effect is as if the ground is glowing red. Some of the images are backlit to show this effect. The rest of the ground is naturalistic mossy-sandy. Paperweight expert Paul Dunlop wrote: “With his Earth Life series, as fine as any weights made in the twentieth century, Tarsitano established himself as a major artist.” “DT” cane (used from 1980 until his death in 1990) in the ground. 3 5/8 inches diameter; 2 1/4 inches tall; one pound and nine ounces. Condition is perfect/like new. $1600
